Psyche and Soma at SoulWorks UK 2020

Soul-making through the Sesame Approach

Psyche and Soma is a one-year, part-time course for people with an existing license to practice with others, who want to attend to the notion of the human soul through the well acclaimed Sesame way of working.  The methodology of the course employs stories, sound, movement, the use of touch, spontaneous play as a way of allowing body and imagination to speak for inner core wisdom – what is often called the soul.  It draws from Jungian thinking of the dreaming, story-making unconscious and from the work of James Hillman which Mary Smail has evolved through the use of embodiment.  It also draws on key components of the Sesame Approach as founded by Marian Billy Lindkvist.

The course runs on one three-day intensive and seven Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday modules over a period a year. Graduates of the course will receive a CPD Certificate and can use the title Sesame Practitioner on successful completion.

Course Content:

Modules on the course include: Two Move or Two Chairs?  The Moving Experience. Laban and Soul. Sounding like Myself – Voice and Sound, Soul: Religious or What? Emerging Story and Play, Jung and the Story Chalice, Soul Perspective and Soul Research, The Soul and Death.  There will be a regular opportunity to learn and deliver the Sesame Approach and receive supervision of applying this in your own practice.  Other course tasks include journal keeping, a mid-year project with clients, and a final piece of writing. Participants need to be able to attend interview and 90 percent of the course, and also be willing to contribute to an on-line group.
